Well hello peeps, hope you are well this fine Sunday ……

A few students of Alex & Dean have been asking me …….

How do I create an eBook ?

This question is a very positive one in my opinion as it means that what people are learning during their coaching so much so they feel confident enough to begin to take action ……

IΒ am flattered that people are looking to me for advice when I feel I am still learning myself and by no means consider myself an expert by any meansΒ  πŸ˜‰

There are a few things to think about before putting virtual pen to virtual paper ……

What is the purpose of the eBook/Report?

The eBook could be a free product to build your list or you could be creating a paid product to sell ? This may determine the content and length of eBook ….

What will I write about?

This is a common question when trying to write your first eBook, most eBooks solve a problem …..

For example, How to bake a cake, How to Build a Computer, How to make money, How to ……. I think you get the idea …..

It is helpful I would think to write about something you have knowledge in and a passion to start, as you progress I have no doubts you will be able to write about any topic with a little research …..

How do I research topic and find content?

There are a few ways to do this, the obvious one would be Google, Read other peoples articles/books on the subject etc ….. another way is to tap into other peoples knowledge, get others to provide the answers for you ……

By this I mean write a Blog Post – What would list as your Top 10 Twitter Tools/ WordPress Plugins etc etc

People willl provide you with your answers and some content with your eBook

How do I structure my eBook?

Most eBooks begin with contents, disclaimer , itroduction etc to get the chapters structure, I use a hard back notebook, I think about the topic I am writing about, I then break the tasks into small steps and bulletpoint each step these then start to form my chapters base- for example my last eBook – Research Niche, Choose Domain Name, Register Domain Name……. etc etc

You will now have the bones of your eBook and all you need to do is to put some meat on them πŸ˜‰

How long should my eBook or FREE Report be?

There is no set rule for this, if a paid product as long as you like to maybe give value, a FREE Report then I would suggest around 30-50 Pages, however I have seen reports only 12 pages long but such was the content it did not need more, so if you can say it in 12 pages good on you πŸ˜‰

Should I use PLR eBooks to create my eBook?

This is an option, if you decide to do this it is important to totally rewrite it and make it your own, many a time I see people insert their own links and pass it off as their own, while this seems ok to do, if you are trying to possibly brand yourself or create an impression of being an authority in a certain area make sure it is your own work……

I would look at using PLR as a time saver, by that I mean getting together the bones of the eBook and then I put the my own meat on it so to speak πŸ˜‰

How many Affiliate Links should be in my eBook?

There is no definative answer to this question, every eBook is different, an important point to remember is that your eBook content should flow naturally to the reader if it is punctured with blue clickable links everywhere when there is no need then the likelyhood is you will get an unsubscribe to your list or hit with a refund request.

You can research Clickbank, PayDotCom etc for appropriate products if required.

The above are just general pointers for you to think about when considering your first eBook …… the products below are free resources that could further help you when you get round to taking action πŸ˜‰ :

Open Office : This is a free open source product similiar to Microsoft office that will help you create your eBook and convert into a .pdf format

Click Here to Download Open Office Suite

CamStudio Screen Recording Software: Similiar to Camtasia Studio but free πŸ˜‰ will enable you to create video tutorials and record screen and edit

Click Here to Download a Copy of CamStudio Screen Recording Software

Screen Hunter Screen Capture Software Similiar to TechSmiths SnagIt Software, this will help you create Screenshots for your eBook πŸ˜‰

Click Here to Download a Copy of Screen Hunter Screen Capture Software

Hopefully this post will have provided some help to those taking the step towards creating their own product ……

As always, feel free to post any comments and questions …. I will do what I can to give you a helping hand to getting your product finished …….

I have had some questions and emails about how to create a simple redirect link for a blog or to include within your eBook …

I know that some of my readers/subscribers are following Dean at his blog and unfortunately still experiencing problems …

This got me thinking, how many other people are needing help, but are struggling on…..?

I would suggest to those that are having problems, the best thing to do if you can’t fix it, is to ask for help or advice, while I myself also struggle to do this at times, I have found with experience that it is best just to ask for help and advice …..

Why? …..

because before you know it you may have spent a few hours trying to fix or follow steps to complete a task, each time you fail, getting slowly disheartened and before you know it you are powering down your computer.

What had started as a positive day, with your to-do list at the ready and goals to hand, you will have written off your day no further forward…

while if you ask for help wether it be at a blog like mine, send an email or post a question on a forum …

Now, you might say “but how long before I get an answer?” …….

it may not be immediate, however think about the other tasks you could be working on while waiting for the answer …..

do you see where i am going here …. 1, 2, 3 ?

you get the solution to the task you were having some problem ( for some this will be the video below and before you know it you have a handful of tasks completed πŸ˜‰ )

Now, I do not want this to seem as a sermon, but just to try and help my readers/subscribers to get into the ‘mindset’ of seeking help if they need it ….

In a way if you do you are ‘outsourcing’ to a degree … well enough of my chat as requested here is the video tutorial that will show how to create a simple redirect link for your Blog or eBook πŸ˜‰

**Please accept my apologises as I am still suffering from a cold, so would suggest you do not have your headset set at full volume πŸ˜‰ I do *cough* twice, I did however promise a couple of readers I would complete this tutorial today, to help them complete this task … so bear with me πŸ˜‰ **

Here is the .php code as shown in the video above, just copy and paste into notepad ….

?php $URL=”enter your web address link here”;
header (“Location: $URL”);

Please add < and also ..... > at begining an end of code as shown in video πŸ˜‰

Here is the redirect link created in the video:

WordPress 2.7 is here!

I have had a few emails from some readers/subscribers about the latest version of WordPress which is 2.7

I can appreciate why some people seemed worried given that the Admin Dashboard is totally different ….

This may have thrown some people, given some emails stating ‘they don’t know how to use it, please help!’

Firstly, I would like to reassure readers/subscribers of my blog, the WordPress Blog does the exact same things the previous version does.

If anything there have been some improvements made, mainly the Plugins install feature, Quick Press Feature and at a glance comments, to name a few

I have created a very quick video, showing the ‘new’ admin dashboard, you will have to excuse me if I sound a bit ‘croacky’, but I have a servere dose of Man-Flu.

I have muddled up a well known saying ( blames the Man Flu ), can anyone spot it?

Some of the questions, I have also recieved is ‘should I upgrade to WordPress 2.7?’ , this is a personal preference, I will be holding off until I know all WordPress Plugins I am using are compatible with the latest version.
I would suggest that you should be using WordPress 2.6.5 at the very least, given the bug fixes and features.

I will do a more detailed video shortly, once I have totally familiarised myself with the 2.7 Version and all it’s features

As always, feel free to comment, or send an email and I will reply as always πŸ˜‰

Well, here is the next video tutorial that will show you how to add Google Adsense, Banners and Aweber to your WordPress Blog.

I think I need to catch my breath, phew !! but on a positive note if you have been following the previous posts and video tutorials this is what you have achieved so far ….*Drumroll please*

You have registered your Domain Name.
You have obtained your own webhosting.
You have created your own email
You have created your Own WordPress Blog via your Cpanel.
You have choosen your own WordPress Theme and uploaded it via ftp.
You have decided which WordPress Plug-ins you need and uploaded them via ftp.
You have learned how to create ‘backlinks’ and ‘trackbacks’ to your Blog.

Did you realise that you had managed to complete all those tasks?

Now, some of the questions and emails I have been receiving are asking ‘How do I add Google Adsense?’ – ‘Can you tell me how to add Banners to my Blog please?’ ‘ I want to add Aweber to my Blog’

I am not one that likes to disappoint so here is the next video tutorial showing you exactly how it is done πŸ˜‰

Now before you watch you will need a Google Adsense Account Click Here for Google Adsense

If you want to add Aweber to your blog then you can Take Aweber for a Test Drive Here

Please feel free to post any comments or feedback you may have, *I will be redoing the video as sound is not the best it could be*, however due to the emails I have received asking for the tutorial I have posted it meantime ….

This will hopefully those that have asked get on with personalising their blog.

If there is anything else that you would like to see, let me know and as always I will see what I can do πŸ˜‰

Ok, here we are at the next video tutorial, which will show you how to install WordPress Themes & WordPress Plugins to your WordPress Blog ….

There are hundreds of free wordpress themes out there, that can be used, you can go to an type in ‘free wordpress themes’

You can then choose one that you like, if you want a wordpress similiar to myself then you can download it free here Download Pro-Sense WordPress Themes Here the reason I like these templates are that they have a double sidebar which can be customised to include anything you want to monitise your blog …..

I will show you how this is done in my next video tutorial ….

Brilliant, you now have chosen the wordpress theme, that suits you, now you will need to think about which WordPress Plug-ins you want to use on your Blog …. (so much to think about!!) don’t panic though as after watching the video tutorial, you will be able to do this with ease, as always if you have any problems or questions, then just post a comment or question and I will help you πŸ˜‰

There are numerous different types of WordPress Plug-ins you can use within your blog …..

I would reassure you, that there is no right or wrong plug-in to use on your WordPress Blog …..

There are plug-ins that will do the same or similiar functions, for example, ‘Add This’, ‘Share This’ or ‘Sociable’ Plug-ins all do the same function which is to allow your posts/blog be shared via ‘Social Media’ medium, now a lot of the time it is your personal preference as to what you like that will determine which WordPress Plug-ins you will use within your blog.

You can visit here to get your WordPress Plugins Click Here to view WordPress Plugins

In the video tutorial below I show you how to use ftp software to upload your WordPress Themes and WordPress Plugins. I use a program called Filezilla, now there are lots of other software programs that will do the job, it is just that having used a few, I have personally found Filezilla to work well….

You can obtain your own copy of Filezilla Click here to download Filezilla ftp software

It is important that you download the version that will met your needs , ie- windows, mac user etc

I hope that I may have solved some of the issues that people that have emailed and posted questions on the blog about the uploading of wordpress plugins, but as you will find that a lot of learning is about trial and error, but I also prefer to try and “learn from other people’s mistakes” πŸ˜‰ i say that as I have made the same mistakes as others….so that you don’t have to πŸ˜‰

I also show you how to create ‘trackbacks’ in the video, I know that I have explained to some about ‘backlinks’ , however ‘trackbacks’ is a very useful tool to create traffic to your blog πŸ˜‰

I hope you find the video tutorial helpful as I tried to get it done quickly given the emails & questions I have been receiving….

Please feel free to comment, good or bad so I can ensure that my videos get better ….

I have received some questions via email and on blog about adsense and changing sidebars etc …..I will ensure I cover this in my next video tutorial ……

Enjoy πŸ˜‰

Ok, by now you will have followed the first steps to creating your blog…. so again well done πŸ˜‰

I have created as promised a video tutorial showing you how easy it can be to install WordPress via your C-Panel…

After watching you will see how something that seemed like a difficult task is actually easy to do ….

but as I always like to provide valuable snippets of information, you will also see how to set up a professional looking email address ….

Most people will have generic email addresses, maybe like or , which is ok, however appearance can be everything and small things can make a difference when it comes to presenting yourself to the online world πŸ˜‰

I am sure you would agree that support @ or support @ not only cosmetically looks better but I would say it automatically installs a sense of confidence in the subscriber or reader?

Which do you prefer?

You are now well on your way to getting your first post under your belt on your new blog, I will be posting another video tutorial in the next day or so, showing you step by step how to upload themes and plugins to your blog to help you get the most out of Worpress.

As always, feel free to comment and let me know if there is anything else you would like covered.

Would you like to set up your own blog?

This a topic that I had in mind for one of the ‘new’ products I was going to create in 2009 …

But I have had some emails about how I went about setting up my blog and asking advice.

The first thing I would advise before doing anything, is get a blank piece of paper and think about what you want to blog about and write down your ideas….

Affiliate Marketing?
eBay Marketing?
Making Money Online?
Weight Loss?
Self Branding or Multiple Niche?

Ok, now you know what your niche, the next thing is to think about a domain name, if you are self branding then check and see if your name is available to register, if it is a niche then think about what you are writing about or wanting generate affiliate income from …

For example, if it is a weight loss niche then you want to try and have a ‘keyword rich’ domain name … ie …. something like or similair.

I use for registering my domains, don’t register it until you check out this link for a coupon code to save money Coupon Codes for

I would also suggest that you try and obtain a .com or .net extention, try and avoid .info extentions as there is a reason why they are cheap, the spammers use them …

Now you will have the choice a ‘hosted’ blog or a ‘self-hosted’ blog ….. What is this you may wonder?

A ‘hosted’ blog is were your url would be something like or, now the advantage being they are free and set up in no time, the disadvantage in my eyes being that they do not allow you to post freely links affiliate or IM Links etc, they limit what you are allowed to post or use to monitise your blog.

The worry is that your blog could be shut down or closed without any warning, this would be very frustrating if you have spent months posting, building backlinks, getting established.

A ‘self-hosted’ blog would be where you host the blog on your own webspace, this gives you so much control and means you are able to do anything you want.

It also installs confidence in your reader/visitor, in my opinion and looks more polished and professional.

What do you think? or which do you prefer?

Graphics are optional and in all honesty, not something you need to worry about at the moment.

There are many webhost companies out there, I use I can not fault the service I have received and recommend them, however most people use companies like now they offer a service of unlimited blogs for only $7.95 a month, but if you enter the coupon code ‘wordpress’ then you can get started for only 1 cent for the first month.

I am going to complete some videos showing how to set up wordpress on your webspace in the next few days.

If there is anything else you want me to show you, plug-ins, themes then feel free to post a comment.

I hope this has helped some of the people who were stuck in what steps to take, if you have manged the above steps, congratulations as you are on your way to setting up your blog.
